St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul Community Development Organization

In 2016 I served as a communications fellow for the St. Vincent de Paul Community Development Organization which operates a nursery school and rescue center for children born in the Kibera slums in Nairobi, Kenya. I produced several short films for St. Vincent’s and documented their programs through photo essays and interviews with beneficiaries.

Nursery School Meal Program
Roles: Producer, Videographer, Editor

St. Vincent’s meal program provides two nutritious meals each day to the nearly 80 orphans and vulnerable children in its Nursery School. With most families in Kibera facing food insecurity, proper nutrition is critical to the children’s growth and development.

Rescue Center
Roles: Producer, Videographer, Editor

St. Vincent’s Rescue Center provides a loving home to 21 orphaned children from the Kibera community. Children at the center are cared for by a “house mother” and live in a household structured similar to that of the typical Kenyan family.
